Public Education should be the Government’s top priority.

The Communist Party of Malta urges the Government to invest state resources in public schooling, with the aim that all under privileged children are given the best education. It is socially unjust that the government is giving away public land and properties for the benefit of private educational institutions.

“Government’s policy seems to be more in favour of neo-liberalism that favours the privilege few, rather than the common good. Elitist culture is prevailing”, states the Communist Party of Malta.

“The development of a private university in Malta will continue to strengthen social inequalities.  According to National Statistics, 22% of children are living in poverty. This situation is making it harder for these children to obtain a basic level of education. The same statistic shows that 23% of school leavers are not continuing with their studies”.
