Communist Party’s message for Worker’s Day

The Communist Party of Malta affirms that “the 1st of May, (Worker’s Day), is the day that symbolizes the struggle of the working class against the exploitation brought about by the capitalist system, a system based on the maximisation of profit without the least regard for the welfare or well-being of the majority of the people.
“In more simple terms, it symbolizes the fight against a new kind of exploitation, that of precarious employment, low wages, the struggle against the privatisation of public services and utilities, and against imperialist wars of aggression to extend the control of the world’s natural resources, into fewer hands”.

“In fact, the economic crisis has been created by the financial institutions, so that the capitalist system takes complete control of public services through privatization scheme, putting forward its agenda for the deregulation of the labour market, where precarious employment becomes the order of the day”.

The Communist Party maintains that “not only, the working class has not disappeared, but it is growing more in number and quality. Precariousness is spreading in every sector of the labour market, from the cleaning sector, up to managerial staff. The changes taking place in the field of production, with the use of modern technology and outsourcing, is bringing down the existing working conditions, a race to the bottom. Studies show that the neo liberal system will not succeed in creating more jobs on a regular basis and decent working conditions”.

“This shows that the capitalist system has failed to offer a decent standard of living or a secure future for workers and their families.  Neo liberalism is the highest level of the economic system based on savage capitalism. This policy will lead to the final fall of the capitalist system”.

The Party reiterates that “the working class is uniting in solidarity against this regressive system, where profit precedes human dignity, standard of living, and the environment. The Party believes that the only way forward should be Socialism”.

The Communist Party salutes all the workers and encourages them to embrace the principle of solidarity, as the future has become an insecure one. This should lead towards the working class becoming more aware, and unite them against a system that no longer is in a position to offer a decent standard of living. The Capitalist system is based on the exploitation of the working class.
