Statement of the ECI Secretariat on the International Women's Day

Today, not only social discrimination in EU's state-members at the expense of women are maintained, but also deepened as a result of capitalist exploitation and a consequence of the all-rounded attack of the capital with harsh measures against women's of the working class, salaried scientists, self-employed, farmers, pensioners. It is demonstrated again that lack of stable daily and weekly working hours, in conditions where women bear almost the exclusive responsibility for caring for the family, the generalized insecurity of the working woman, are not a result of some so-called  "wrong" political choices of the EU and its governments.

The EU and its governments in a unitary way defend the fundamental axis of the EU strategy for intensifying the exploitation and oppression of salaried women, as a means for improvement of the competitiveness of the business groups. By invoking "gender equality", "equal treatment", "equal opportunities", "balancing professional and personal life", they abolish the last of the rights such as restricting night-shifts for women, maternity leaves, positive difference in the retirement age etc.

The ECI calls for the strengthening of the struggle for permanent defense of the contemporary rights of women in work, social protection of maternity and family.
Only with the economic and political power in the hands of the working class can women's work and use of free-time  take on a creative content; this is the way for equality and emancipation of women to be built upon solid foundations.

STATEMENT OF THE ECI SECRETARIAT ON THE DANGEROUS US-ISRAEL PLAN AGAINST PALESTINE

so-called “deal of the century” introduced by Trump administration together with the corrupt leader of Israel, Natanyahu, is another disgraceful attempt to endorse and bolster the actThe ions of the oppressor.
It is neither a peace treaty nor a deal between equals. It strengthens and shields the Israeli occupation, supports the annexation of the Jordan Valley and preserves the settlements. It violates the sovereign rights of the Palestinian people.
As communist and workers’ parties of the European Communist Initiative, we condemn, in the strongest sense, this treacherous and very dangerous initiative. We consider the plan as an invalid, irrelevant piece of paper, which has excluded the wishes of the people of the region.
This device is a demand to the Palestinian people to surrender their fundamental rights and freedoms, their rights to throw off the occupation, to liberate the Palestinian territories and create  an independent Palestinian state. It is an endorsement of Israeli annexation.
The plan, which is designed to squeeze the Palestinian people into various enclaves, has nothing to do with the interests of the people in the region. If this deal is implemented, for the forthcoming  years, the dominance of the Israeli bourgeoisie and the imperialist powers will increase. The “deal” is to serve the criminal interests of the Israeli bourgeois state and its imperialist allies.
Trump's miserable effort to bribe the Palestinian people and people of the surrounding countries, under the pretext of “development” will be at the expense of their freedom, peace and historical bonds. The so-called development or prosperity will not benefit the wellbeing of the people but will serve to fill the pockets of the monopoly-owners.
The plan provocatively and unjustly denies the rights of return of millions of refugees and their children and grandchildren, families who have been forcefully expelled from their land.
Experience highlights the necessity of the working class unity, the strengthening of the Palestinian people's struggle, and the intensification of internationalist solidarity. No class-collaborationist approach can bring peace and freedom to the people of Palestine.
Communist and workers parties of Europe are in full solidarity with the people of Palestine against the occupation, for establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the release of Palestinian prisoners and assuring the right to return of the refugees. It should be the people of the region, and no other foreign actor, to determine their own future, and the right to determine this belongs only to them. Against all dirty “deals”, we will support the resistance of the Palestinian people.
Down with the so-called “deal of the century”!
Down with imperialism!
Long live the internationalist solidarity between the working people of Palestine and the Middle East!

May 1st: Day of the international struggle against capitalism, for socialism-communism.

We honour Labour Day, the dead workers of Chicago in 1886, all the unyielding fighters of the class struggle that even gave their lives for the rights of their class, for the abolition of the exploitation of man by man, for socialism-communism. We draw strength from the historical experience by organizing the contemporary struggles of the working class, its alliance with the other popular strata, against the attack of the capital, the anti-popular measures of the EU and its governments, against imperialist interventions and the EU-US-NATO wars, in order to meet contemporary needs.
The contradictions of capitalism are sharpening and apparent to all: continuous wars, refugees, crises, mass unemployment, exploitation, inequality, workers’ impoverishment and environmental pollution.
The capital tries to conceal the real causes that generate this reality in order to divert the correct popular indignation towards directions that perpetuate capitalism, hiding the fact that the impoverishment of the working masses internationally and the growing inequalities between rich and poor, as well as between countries with different levels of development, are the result of the division of society into classes and of the process of capitalist accumulation.
The injustice that characterizes capitalism as a system based on exploitation is endeavoured to be justified as a result of the economic conjuncture or as a defect in the management of the system, whereas, instead, it is a characteristic intrinsic to capitalism itself, both in crisis and in its economic recovery phase.
The capital also uses nationalism - racism as a weapon of "mass distraction". Only the imperialist bourgeoisie benefits from this, thus hiding its enormous responsibilities for wars and the looting of entire countries. The refugees and immigrants who flee from their countries because of imperialist wars, as well as from the imperialist peace which comprises exploitation, diseases and misery, contribute to widening the "reserve army of labour " that capital uses to further reduce everyone's wages.
On May 1st, we reiterate once again the solidarity of the communists and the labour movement with immigrant proletarians. The class enemy is not an immigrant, but the capitalist. It is the capitalist who fires, who reduces wages, who imposes inhuman working conditions. The way out can only be found in class unity and equality of rights for all workers, both native and immigrants.
We denounce the opportunism of social-democracy, of the collaborationist trade unionists and their compromised leadership, who act to defuse the people’s discontent and only help to guarantee the survival of a dying system. The bourgeoisie tries to neutralize the popular discontent also by suppressing social protest and by channelling it to movements that, regardless of their "right" and "left" connotation, serve the interests of the capital, its governments and its international imperialist alliances, such as the EU and NATO.
For example, the bourgeoisie is trying to divert the just and widespread indignation against the ecological devastation and the damage to the health of workers towards neo-ecological movements that criminalize the individual consumer instead of the big monopolies, omitting to denounce that what threatens the very survival of the planet is the exploitation of natural resources by capitalist monopolies in search for profit maximization and imperialist wars. Hope lies in the class struggle, in the organization and regroupment of the workers' movement.
This year, May 1st coincides with the beginning of the European election campaign. The peoples know from their experience that the EU is not improving, it can only be worse, more anti-popular and reactionary. This is why we must break the chains that hold us, prisoner, we must intensify the struggle against the EU and NATO, the political-military institutions of European imperialism that guarantee the domination of capital to the detriment of workers and peoples.
The Europe of workers and peoples cannot arise by this European Union that perpetuates capitalist oppression and imperialist aggression.
We must concentrate our action against the EU and NATO, starting from this May 1st, a day from which a new season of proletarian struggles must start for the claiming of labour rights, the overthrow of capitalism, for socialism-communism.
On the occasion of this May 1st the Communists greet and express internationalist solidarity with the workers of Europe and all over the world, who are everywhere engaged in the struggle for their rights and their emancipation from the shackles of the capitalist system.
Long live May 1st!
Proletarians of the world, unite!

Joint Statement of Communist and Workers’ Parties: Solidarity with the people of Sudan

Solidarity with the people of Sudan
The Communist and Workers’ Parties undersigning this statement condemn the continued repression of peaceful protesters in Sudan since 19th December 2018.
They note that a national state of emergency was declared in Sudan on 22 February by president Omar al-Bashir amidst the dictatorial regime’s continued attempts to suppress the mass popular protests.
This development has taken place against the backdrop of attempts by US imperialism and its reactionary allies in the region to find a way to rescue the regime through certain superficial changes in the composition of the government. All these conspiracies are an expression of political panic among imperialist and reactionary forces that fear the eventual victory of the Sudanese people and their aspirations for freedom, democracy, peace and social justice.
The democratic opposition forces in Sudan have strongly condemned these new repressive measures and called for continued mass and popular protests to achieve the goals of the Sudanese people. The Sudanese Communist Party has called for a strengthening in the resolve and unity of the opposition, towards preparing for the declaration of a general strike and subsequent campaign of civil disobedience.
In response to the declaration of the national state of emergency, despite the escalating repression meted out by the regime’s security forces, mass popular demonstrations have taken place in Khartoum and the main cities as well as towns all over Sudan. About 3000 people, among them over 200 women activists, are still languishing in the prisons and detention centres of the regime under harsh and inhumane conditions. They include 16 members of the Central Committee of the Sudanese Communist Party as well as scores of its cadres and members. Among the detainees are Comrade Mohamed Mokhtar al-Khatib, the political secretary of the party, and members of the leadership of the party: Masoud Al Hassan, Sidig Yousif, Ali Saeed, Hanadi Fadl, Faiza Nugud, Salih Mahmoud, Amal Gabralla, Mohamed Aburas, Hashim Mirghani, Osama Hassan, Seid Ahmed Al Khatib and Mokhtar Mahmoud.
The Communist and Workers’ Parties strongly condemn the bloody repression by the dictatorial regime and its security forces and support the just demands of the Sudanese people and their peaceful protest movement.
The Communist and Workers’ Parties demand the immediate and unconditional release of Comrade Mohamed Mokhtar al-Khatib and all the political detainees in Sudan.

CP of Greece, We denounce the imperialist intervention in Venezuela. Solidarity with the Venezuelan People!

We, Communist and Workers Party of the world, decisively denounce the imperialist plans, the undermining tactics and the menaces unleashed by the USA, the EU and their allied governments in Latin America, aiming at overthrowing the legally elected President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro; at subjugating the people of the country into their imperialist interests; and at looting the country’s wealth-producing resources.
After the failed provocation prepared by the USA using the imperialists’ puppet Guaidó on February 23rd in the Colombian borders, under the pretext of “humanitarian aid”, new scenarios are promoted for a coup or even an imperialist military attack, while simultaneously they continue the effort to organize more provocations that will give a pretext for the escalation of the intervention.
We strongly condemn every coup and imperialist military attack scenario of the USA and of their allies!
We decisively state that they will find against them not only the people of Venezuela but also the Communist and Workers Parties, the working class’ and people’s movement all around the world!
We vehemently condemn the statements of John Bolton, National Security Advisor of the USA, according to which the government of the USA follows the Monroe Doctrine that considers the whole of Latin America as their exclusive zone of interest.
Latin America belongs to its peoples!
Loyal to the principles of Proletarian Internationalism we express our solidarity with the people of Venezuela; only the people of Venezuela have the capacity to decide on the internal affairs of its country. We express our solidarity with the Communist Party of Venezuela, the Communist Youth of Venezuela and other Venezuelan anti-imperialist forces that struggle under difficult conditions to defend the people’s interests.
Down with Imperialism!
People Will Prevail!
