Harbouring of Military Vessels violate Malta’s Constitution.

The Communist Party of Malta condemns the visit of Chinese military vessels in Maltese Harbours, as these are not congenial with the Neutrality clause in the Maltese constitution.

“Malta should not continue to allow military warships in its territorial waters, and instead Malta should once again form part of the Non-Aligned Movement. Malta’s role should be to promote peace in the Mediterranean region”, stated the Party.

The Party said that “although China, as a country does not threaten sovereignty of other people, like western imperialism does, still the presence of military vessel in Malta goes against the spirit of the Maltese constitution.”

The Communist Party reiterates that “the new Labour Administration should not follow in the footsteps of the previous Nationalist Administration where US and NATO warships were allowed to make us of our facilities during conflicts in the regions.”
